So you find yourself on the streets?

You have three options...

1) Ask for help

There is no reason at all to feel humiliated in asking for help. In fact, it's one of the strongest things to do. We all need a helping hand at some point in our lives. To reach out shows that you're human and you see a brighter future for yourself.

In the first case, reach out to Hounslow Council, who will assess your needs and let you know if any housing duty is owed to you. You can do that by emailing myindependence@hounslow.gov.uk.

You can also register with us as a Homeless Person by contacting us (above). We will help guide you through the process by being a base you can be in touch with through this rough patch.

2) Go it alone

There are a wide range of options for going it alone. Essentially, you need to find yourself work to stay financially afloat and a room/flat to rent. Food is available from many local organisations. We have connections with local recruitment agencies and can help you find work. Contact us, and we'll figure out a route out of homelessness for you based on your skills and what you love to do.

Above all, keep your head up: there's better days ahead, we promise.

3) Live your life

We believe that we live in a free country and are at liberty to do what we wish with our lives, as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. If sleeping rough is something you want to do, then there's nothing anyone should do but respect that. In the U.K. sleeping rough is actually illegal and the government have a system in place to help. There are routes out of homelessness and a wealth of support available if you change your mind; and we'll be here if you decide to take that path.

What are your options?

Sleeping rough is tough, we know. That's why it's really important to tell StreetLink where you are and how they can find you. The details you provide are sent to the local authority or outreach service for the area in which you are, to help Hounslow Council find you and connect you to support. For under 18's, please contact the police.

If you are in immediate danger or need urgent medical care, call 999.

Hounslow has many community groups that you can meet new friends at as well as get support and advice from. Hounslow Wellbeing Network, Poetical Word and The Olive Branch are but a few.

Contact us and let us know your circumstances. We may be able to help provide tents and sleeping bags for you to use as a temporary measure to protect you from the elements.

Pick yourself up!

There are a range of community services and organisations that you can connect with to find support and guidance on your next steps.

Hounslow Soup Kitchen is here to help you find your calling in life and to assist you in pursuing your dream. Every one of us has a unique skill that nobody else can offer. It's up to us to find out what that is and put it to use for others.

Know that there are groups of people here that are looking to support people in your situation. Don't feel alone. Reach out and lets move forward together.
